LOCATION: Selsey, West Wittering Area

JOB TITLE: Operations Manager (Children's Homes)

SALARY & BENEFITS: £Salary/Negotiable depending on experience.

WORKING HOURS: 40 hours a week (flexible) Monday to Friday

THE COMPANY: Our client is a well-known Children's homes organisation that focuses on improving the lives of vulnerable young people in their care.

THE ROLE: This job opportunity would be ideally suitable to an experienced Manager within the Children's Care Sector who is looking for a more varied day to day structure within their working week. A Company laptop and mobile phone will be provided and any other needs will be discussed with the successful applicant. All we ask is that you share your experience to provide excellent communication and people management skills which you will use to the take the lead to ensure our Homes are providing an excellent residential service to Young People and Local Authorities.

  • To take full responsibility for the operational day-to-day running of the 2 Residential Children's Homes in consultation with Directors and implementation of the Organisations operational policies and procedures
  • To ensure effective marketing of the Organisation and its service to Commissioners, families, service users & advocates.
  • To oversee and manage the homes budgets in consultation with Directors and to make cost saving measures where appropriate
  • To ensure a homely and safe environment that meets service users individual needs and facilitates integration within the local community.
  • To strategically develop the Organisation in line with Directors and the Company business plan
  • To assess prospective service users with managers, prior to admission gauging suitability bearing current resources.
  • Liaise with multi-disciplinary teams, care mangers and other external bodies in a professional manner promoting the service at all times
  • To carry out all aspects of Human Resource management and devise Policies & Procedures in line with Legislation and "Good Practice"
  • Seek out new business opportunities on behalf of the Organisation
  • Keep abreast of current developments within the Social Care Sector and Housing
  • To provide regular supervision to all managers on a monthly basis and ensure this is recorded and placed upon file
  • To carry out regular financial audits within the homes and produce recommendations and action plans
  • To support Directors in the preparation of annual budgets for the Organisation as a whole and to ensure this is cascaded down to home managers
  • To ensure the premises and equipment are kept to a high standard in accordance with National Care Standards Act & Health & Safety Legislation and inform of any defects
  • To support the Directors in their day to day work as and when required

Key skills and experience:-

  • Extensive experience as a registered manager working with children or in a professional role working directly with children
  • NVQ level 4 in leadership and management for care services /RMA / Dip SW/ or level 5 diploma in leadership for health & social care services (Children & young people residential management)
  • Hold a recognised social work or professional management qualification relevant to working with children
  • Exceptional People skills
  • Comfortable multi-tasking
  • Good commercial awarness
  • Comfortable and confident with IT
  • A driving license is essential
