Based in Horning.

We are currently recruiting a Base Manager for our Le Boat business. Le Boat is part of the Marine Division, which is part of TUI Travel PLC's Specialist & Activity Sector.

* To deliver the holidays so that clients return and recommend the company to others.

* Provide cost effective and efficient operation of the base

* Maintain the level local income and look for opportunities to increase it.

* Uphold and where possible improve the appearance of boats and equipment

* Introduce and follow implementation of the company internal procedures

* Manage, motivate and care for staff at the base and conduct annual reviews for the team

What You'll Be Doing

Responsibilities and Roles:

* Ensure the fleet is kept to highest possible standard.

* Motivate and coordinate the team so they work efficiently and to the highest standards possible.

* Plan and organize the teams work

* Organize and hold weekly team meetings

* Manage and purchase the stock of parts and cleaning supplies with the team leaders involved

* Manage and control boats equipments as well as the fuel consumption

* Manage and control base equipments and cars

* Ensure the base provides excellent customer care

* Provide back up and support for all staff including reception

* Liaise and mediate between local authorities and head office

Specific duties:

* Give all boats a pre-charter check before the clients arrive, to ensure that they are clean, that everything is working and in good condition

* Greet clients on arrival, show them to their boat, and arrange boat and area briefings.

* Deal personally with customer's queries and complaints

* Co-ordinate breakdowns and on call days

* Organise de-briefs when clients return to the base

* Oversee boat cleaning, ensure that repairs are done and preventative checking is carried out

* Ensure that protective equipment and uniforms are worn where required

* Be responsible for the health and safety across the base, including shed, security systems (fire alarm etc.) installed on the base and offices as well

* Liaise with local authorities and ensure that the company complies with all licences and permits.

* Supply regular information back to regional manager and accounts department.

* Good knowledge of boats and be capable of driving them

* Valid driving licence

* Knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the product

* Excellent people handling skills

* A good communicator with staff, managers and local authorities equally.

* Must be a leader, display the confidence of a leader and is able to set the right example.

* Able to build efficient work relationships

* Must command, respect and display the right management image

* Technically proficient to instruct the teams on his/her lever or higher if possible

* Energy and enthusiasm are key elements in this job

* Good organization skills, able to prioritize the work load, to be quick thinking

* Ability to remain calm under pressure

* Be reliable and dependable

* Proven decision making

* Ability to work with deadlines and targets

* Ability to work within the instructions framework of his direct line manager

* Ability to run an office, keeping an eye on cash, keep accurate accounts, and present reports to the head office on time

* Good understanding of Microsoft applications- PC literate word/excel/outlook- training will be delivered for the internal cash system software & reservations software (Neptune)

* Good interpersonal and intercultural skills

* Commercial awareness and good knowledge of cost control

* Customer orientated

* Good appearance

During season:

* Will have to work during weekends, bank holidays and school holidays period

* Flexibility is required as daily hours may vary according to the customers and company needs

* Cars transfers for customers (possible)
